Tim Sapp - Board Member
Tim Sapp, one of our founding board members, has been a Florence area resident since 1983. Tim originally lived in Albany, Oregon, where he owned a farm and was a productive land developer.
Tim is a distinguished and decorated Vietnam veteran who served 2 years in the late 1960s, until he was wounded in combat. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Medal, Bronze Medal with Valor, a Silver Star, and the prestigious Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. Prior to his duty in Vietnam, Tim attended the Army’s Advanced Individual Training Program and NCOC School.
Besides his active role in the military museum, Tim is the owner of TR Hunter Real Estate located in Florence. Over the years, Tim has served numerous organizations such as the Port of Siuslaw Budget Committee, assisting the city with grant applications for the Veterans Memorial Park, participating on a community task force for road improvements, a founding board member of the Veterans Parade Committee of Florence, and actively chaired the effort to bring the Vietnam Moving Wall Memorial to Florence in September 2001. Significantly, it was on September 11, 2001 that the wall left town, the same day the Twin Towers of New York City crumbled to the ground.
“This museum is very near and dear to our hearts. We don’t want one story to fade away because every veteran of military service deserves our gratefulness for the part they have played in the protection of freedom. At this museum, we celebrate not war, but peace that comes from being free.”
