About the event
"Oregon in the Civil War? We were on the West Coast so how could we be involved?"
This is a question our staff at the Museum has heard quite a few times in our years of operation. Many forget that Oregon was admitted into the Union in 1859, meaning we were a state during the Civil War period (1861-1865).
Sharing his knowledge on how our state played a role in the conflict, Author and Historian Randol B. Fletcher will be coming to the Oregon Coast Military Museum on October 23rd. Mr. Fletcher is the author of the book "Hidden History of Civil War Oregon" which details multiple connections between Oregon and the conflict that ravaged the East Coast.
