Chief of Staff Geoff Cannon checks out five of the high-quality, professional folding mahogany chairs acquired by the Museum for use in events, made possible by a grant from the Western Lane Community Foundation.
Combating cumbersome on-loan chairs each time the Museum held a public event has been defeated with the acquisition of sixty high-quality mahogany wooden folding chairs, thanks to a generous grant from Western Lane Community Foundation.
“When we set up for a public event previously, it was a real struggle to get the fifty or so chairs out of storage, set them up and make them all fit, and then put them all back.” commented Chief of Staff Geoff Cannon. He ought to know as the person responsible for setting up and taking down after events. “These new chairs acquired with the grant from WLCF are so much more manageable and makes the chore much quicker and easier.” he added.
Executive Director Cal Applebee added “The old chairs took up a lot of space and were noisy during the event. These new chairs will be quieter, allows more seating, as well as add a professional more element to our Museum. Some folks may think it’s a small thing, but the grant from the Foundation is what made this enhancement to our effort a possibility and we truly appreciate that help.” He added “Although since acquiring the chairs the Museum has not had an event in which to showcase them and acknowledge the Foundation’s grant, they have still made a positive impact on the Museum’s operational ability.” The Museum is located at 2145 Kingwood Street in Florence, and open to the public Thursday through Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
