Winter Update

Soggy greetings - I hope this finds you inside and staying warm and dry! It may be winter time but there is still a lot going on at your Museum. To replace long-time Volunteer and Board Member Tom Benedict who's term expired at the end of December, your Board has elected long-time Florence resident Dee Osborne of Banner Bank to the Board. Dee brings us not only a great business sense from her perspective as VP and Branch Manager of Florence & Mapleton, but also long-term non-profit service in the community with organizations such as Rotary, Home Builders Assn., Western Lane Community Foundation and Florence Area Chamber of Commerce, just to name a few. I have had the privilege of working with Dee both professionally as well as in the non-profit community and I am very excited to have her join us. Her father served in the US Navy in Korea; her son is a former Marine, and two newphews served recently overseas. She understands our mission. Welcome aboard Dee! Our next Military Heritage Day is Saturday, February 24th, and we have a great program lined up for you. New AeroLegends BiPlane Rides owner Terry Tomeny will be sharing with us his experiences as a retired USAF Command Pilot and more recently test pilot for Boeing and Lockheed Martin. His presentation is sure to leave you soaring with delight so please mark your calendar and plan on joining us at 2:00 p.m. on that day at Sam Spayd's hangar at the Florence Municipal Airport. Just like a lot of non-profit organizations in our community, we can not function without our Volunteers - we thank them for their time and talent this past year. However, they need more help. If you would like to check out our volunteering opportunities, please contact Geoff Cannon Thursday thru Saturday at the Museum, or call him at 541-902-5160. Don't forget to send in your membership renewals for 2018! We need you to enlist in our ranks and continue to support us! You can also find information on our website at www.oregoncoastmilitarymuseum.com. See you soon - Thanks!
