March has roared in like a lion, and there are plenty of opportunities in our community to fulfill our mission to honor our Veterans.
We are seeking a Volunteer to help Chief of Staff Geoff Cannon produce our Veteran of the Quarter program. This entails interviewing a Veteran and producing a video which is then displayed in the Museum for that quarter. If you have talent or interest in this, please contact Geoff at the Museum 541-902-5160 for details.
Many of our community partners also have events going on this Spring that we want to share with you, as they too are additional ways to honor our Veterans:
March 10 - the Friends of the Florence Events Center are sponsoring a WWII-era USO type program called 'Pin-Ups on Tour'. A great family-oriented Sunday afternoon of entertainment at the Florence Events Center. For ticket information visit www.eventcenter.org or call 541-997-1994.
Throughout March, our friends at the Heceta Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast will be celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Heceta Head Lightstation, including the Lightkeeper's Home, where USCG troops were posted for beach patrols during WWII. Visit www.hecetalighthouse.com for information on various events they have planned.
Spruce Point Assisted Living is the primary sponsor of The Wall That Heals, scheduled for its only 2019 appearance in Oregon here in Florence April 4 through 7. This three-quarter scale rendition of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will arrive with motorcycle escort on April 2nd and we'll want to turn out in force to welcome this to our community. Volunteers are still needed to help with set-up and knock-down. For information, please contact Kim Pruitt at 541-997-6111.
