Military Museum Upcoming Events

Good afternoon folks - the Oregon Coast Military Museum is ramping up for a busy summer and we want you to be a part of it, so fasten your seat belts and I'll hit the after-burner to launch this update! This Saturday, June 17th, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. we hope you'll join us as we celebrate the birth of the legendary jeep in WWII and the iconic vehicle that it has become today. At Johnston Motor Company on Hwy 101 we are expecting several dozen military jeeps, vintage CJ's and current-production Wranglers to be on display for your enjoyment. If you own or drive one of these Jeeps, bring it on down and register (no fee!) and help us share this story. The first twenty five entries receive a goodie bag full of items from our Sponsors Johnston Motor Company and Banner Bank - plus other goodies as well! Florence-Siuslaw Lions Club will have their food cart on hand if you get hungry; treat Dad to the show for Father's Day! Next, we celebrate our SECOND ANNIVERSARY on Saturday July 1st - in conjunction with the annual Wings & Wheels Fly in & Car Show. Starting at 10:00 a.m. and going until 3:00 p.m., we'll have door prizes and raffle prizes for you to enjoy - including two scenic tours with AeroLegends BiPlane and Apex Heli! Tickets are available for those and other amazing prizes such as Florence Tech Solutions 'tech basket'; date basket; some phenomenal home-décor baskets from Beach House Gifts on Bay Street - and more! Tickets are available now at the Museum, Chamber Visitor Center, Florence Tech Solutions and Beach House Gifts. They'll be available during the day of the event as well - so get yours now - only 100 tickets each are being sold for the scenic tours! Refreshments by Pop's Smokehouse Truck! And at Wings & Wheels, join us for convoy rides in historic military vehicles! If you haven't visited the Museum recently, you'll want to come in and check out our Oral History Veteran Focus Display featuring the interview with WWII Vet Vincent LePiane - quite informative and entertaining - as are his artifacts on display with it! 2017/2018 Membership renewal time is upon us - visit the new website soon and find our updated Membership Application. I'll be mailing out reminders soon as well! Remember, this Museum was created by all of us and we still need your support to maintain the mission! Your Board of Directors has been busy seeking options for a possible future expansion to meet the need of the incoming (as in artifacts) so watch for news soon on what direction they plan to take us. And finally - a BIG THANKS to the Knights of Columbus for tackling our weeds at the Museum. They will also be conducting a Flag Ceremony this Wednesday the 14th (Flag Day) at 11:00 a.m. at the Museum - join us for this patriotic presentation on American Flag heritage! Hope to see you soon!
